Some spaces are built to work quietly in the background, a rooftop terrace that gives an office campus somewhere to breathe. This one, at HSBC's Pune campus, was designed to do exactly that.

Our brief covered two layers of the space. The first was structural: a series of black steel mesh screens, layered in a repeating grid, that wrap the terrace and double as living walls for climbing greenery. Cast and framed as architectural elements rather than decoration, the mesh gives the terrace its enclosure and its rhythm, breaking up long sightlines while letting light and air move through.

The second was furniture. Long GFRC-topped tables were paired with woven bar-style seating and set out under a steel pergola, arranged in rows across artificial turf to create a garden dining zone within the terrace. Alongside them, we designed a set of solid GFRC benches and low tables with a raw, monolithic finish, built to read as sculptural objects even when empty. A separate seating cluster used a lighter touch, GFRC-topped picnic tables on cross-braced wooden legs, repeated down a garden path in a simple, casual format suited to a quick break outdoors.

Every piece across the terrace, from the heaviest bench to the smallest stool, needed to hold up to daily use in an open-air corporate environment while still reading as considered design. GFRC gave us the finish and the weathering both needed: a material solid enough for constant outdoor use, refined enough to sit inside a five-star grade office landscape.

The result is a terrace with several distinct zones, structured, garden-lined dining under the pergola, sculptural lounge seating near the greenery, and casual picnic seating along the path, all built from the same material language so the space reads as one coherent environment rather than a patchwork of furniture.

Projects like this reflect how we think about GFRC: not just as a facade material, but as a system that can shape furniture, screens, and structure together, at the scale a client's space actually needs.
