Architecture on a research campus like ISRO's Space Applications Centre answers to a brief most buildings never face the facade has to support technical function first, with any visual character arriving as a consequence of that function rather than as a separate design layer. This angular, tilted volume follows that logic closely: a plain, textured wall broken by a single rectangular diamond-lattice GFRC jali, set precisely into the facade rather than scattered across it.
The jali's role is functional before it's visual. On a facility built around sensitive equipment and controlled internal environments, a diamond-grid screen typically manages ventilation or air exchange for plant and service spaces without opening the building's envelope to direct sightlines a requirement that carries real weight on an institutional campus where controlled access and a closed exterior are part of the building's operating logic. Casting the lattice in GFRC gave the panel a fine, consistent grid depth that a welded metal screen couldn't reproduce at this precision, while keeping the white insert crisp against the wall's warmer, textured tone.
Restraint is the actual design decision here one panel, one material contrast, no ornamentation beyond what the function required. Against the building's angled geometry, the jali reads as a single deliberate opening in an otherwise closed form, giving a technical facility a moment of architectural intent without compromising the discretion the setting demands.
