A hotel entrance in a temple town has to carry two expectations at once the warmth and craft of traditional Rajasthani ornamentation, and the scale a modern hospitality building demands. At The Marutinandan Grand, architect Ar. Jolly resolved that through a series of large-format GFRC jali panels circular medallions and radiating floral patterns set into the entrance colonnade and porte-cochère, each panel distinct but part of one continuous decorative language.
The variety of patterns across the facade is where the cast approach earns its place. Reproducing this many individual motifs rosettes, mandalas, branching floral reliefs in carved stone would mean sourcing and coordinating separate craftsmen for each design, with no guarantee of consistent depth or finish between them. Casting each pattern in GFRC let every medallion and panel be produced to a fixed mould, so the ornamentation reads as a coherent set rather than a patchwork of individually made pieces, while keeping the panels light enough to be fixed across tall entrance columns without adding significant structural load.
The cream, stone-textured finish keeps the ornamentation grounded in the region's material palette closer to sandstone or marble jali work than to a painted or polished surface so the entrance reads as continuous with Nathdwara's traditional architecture even as its scale and construction method are entirely contemporary.
