Standing tall against the Ahmedabad skyline, the GATI building called for a facade that could match the ambition of the institution it houses. Home to a college and community spaces built in memory of the trust's benefactors, the building needed a design element that felt monumental from a distance and finely detailed up close, something that would give the structure its own identity while tying it back to a sense of tradition and craft.

The solution was three towering vertical GFRC screen panels, running the full height of the central facade, framed by classical fluted pilasters in a soft cream stone finish. Each screen carries a fine triangular jali pattern, repeated thousands of times across the panel, allowing light to filter through while giving the elevation a rich, textured surface that changes character with the angle of the sun.

Executing this at full building height was no small task. The pattern had to stay perfectly consistent across multiple panel joints, the finish had to match the surrounding stone cladding, and the whole system needed to be light enough for a facade of this scale while still holding up over decades of Ahmedabad's heat and weather. GFRC made this possible, delivering the intricacy of hand carved jali work with the strength and consistency of engineered concrete.

The result is a facade that anchors the entire building. The three screens draw the eye upward toward the GATI signage at the top, giving the structure a strong vertical identity, while the fine geometric detailing keeps the design rooted in the region's architectural language of light, shadow, and pattern.

Completed in 2026 for the Vagad Samaj Trust, this project stands as a clear example of how GFRC can be used not just as cladding, but as the defining architectural gesture of an entire building.
