A railway station's facade has to withstand a different kind of scrutiny than a storefront's it's read at speed, from a platform or a passing road, and it has to keep working through decades of public use rather than a single design cycle. At Chandlodiya-B, the answer sits at the building's corner: a tall vertical GFRC jali, its slotted pattern breaking up an otherwise solid brick elevation.
The jali's job here is less about ornament than ventilation and shading, a function brick alone can't provide at a station's scale. Cast in vertical slots rather than a dense lattice, the panel lets air move through the corner bay while still reading as a considered architectural element rather than a service grille. Because the pattern is cast, not cut or welded on site, the slots stay uniform along the panel's full height a detail that matters when the jali runs uninterrupted across several storeys.
Set against the deep red brick cladding, the white GFRC does double duty: it marks the building's edge clearly enough to read from a distance, and it gives the corner a lighter, more porous presence against the solidity of the brick behind it a small but deliberate contrast in a building built mostly for endurance.
